The Rotary Club of Pune Baner has plnated 27 specially chosen trees on a verdant plot on the ITI premises at Aundh. This special plot of greenery, is being developed into Nakshtravan, a special garden bearing trees which have an astronomical value and relevance. About 27 such special trees bearing the name of constellations, or star groups as mentioned in ancient Hindu Puranas, are being planted in this garden.. Each tree also carries a digital scan code that, once scanned showcases all the information about the constellation connected with it. This project is a unique concept which not only helps in preserving the environment, but also works towards preserving the rare species of plants that have an astronomical relevance. Rotarians from the club, the Club president and volunteers from ITI nurture and maintain these plants which are still in growing phase.
